ART Paint Allandale, a Plein Air event, will be held at Allandale Mansion, 4444 W. Stone Drive, Kingsport, on Sept. 21-23. Times are 8 a.m until dark on Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 21-22, and 8 a.m. to noon on Wednesday, Sept. 23. A demonstration and discussion by artist Peggy Root from the Root Studio in Jonesborough will be held on Thursday, Sept. 24, from 9 a.m. to noon at Allandale. An opening reception of work completed during the Allandale event will be held in the Main Gallery of the Renaissance Center Sept. 24 from 6:30-8 p.m. The artwork will be on exhibit through Oct. 2. A Bonus Day with no additional fee will be held on the front lawn of Allandale during the Daniel Boone Antique Car Show for registered artists on Sunday, Sept. 20. "Paws for a Cause" will be on exhibit through Sept. 26 at Impressions Gallery, 246 Broad St., Kingsport. This special exhibition of artwork created by members of the gallery will help raise funds for Petworks. People who purchase any of the cat/dog themed artwork will be helping Petworks and local artists. The 2026 International FL3TCH3R Exhibit: Social & Politically Engaged Art will be on view through Sept. 27 at Fischman Gallery in downtown Johnson City. The exhibit is free and open to the public. Create Appalachia will host "Enigmatic Encounters: The Veil Grows Thin," a juried fall exhibition celebrating mystery, imagination, folklore, and the unknown, through Oct. 30 at its gallery in downtown Kingsport. The gallery is located at 225 W. Center St. Suite 115. Kingsport's 15th Sculpture Walk has been installed and is ready for the public to enjoy. The Sculpture Walk is a program where the city leases sculptures from artists across the country to put on display within the city. This year, Kingsport Cultural Arts has brought five new sculptures to the city. The sculptures can be found along the Kingsport Greenbelt by the Holston River. BIRDING Birding Kingsport will hold its monthly meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 22, at 7 p.m. in the fellowship hall of St. Michael's Episcopal Church, located at 584 Lebanon Road. The program "Puerto Rico — Birding Isle of Enchantment" to be presented by Susan Hubley. Visitors are welcome and encouraged to attend. Birding in the Gap will be held Saturday, Nov. 14, from 9-11 a.m. at the Southwest Virginia Museum Historical State Park in Big Stone Gap, Virginia. Meet at the museum's front gate. BUSH MILL DAY Bush Mill Day, hosted by the Nickelsville Ruritan Club, will be on Saturday, Oct. 3, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event will be held at the historic Bush Mill in Nickelsville, Virginia. There will be corn ground in the mill, crafts and live music all day along with delicious food. The cornbread made from the mill will be served with fresh soup beans. CAMPFIRE TALES Bays Mountain Park, in partnership with the Friends of Bays, will host Campfire Tales — a free event featuring renowned storyteller Dr. Hannah Harvey — at the park's outdoor amphitheater on Sept. 25 and 26. S'mores will be available from 6-6:45 p.m., and storytelling will begin at 7 p.m. Park admission and tickets to the sessions are free both evenings thanks to a sponsorship by Knoxville TVA Employees Credit Union. The sessions are recommended for families, teens and adults with Friday's program geared more towards kids, while Saturday's is designed for older teens and adults. Seating is limited and is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Sessions will be canceled in the event of inclement weather. HISTORY AND HERITAGE Exchange Place Living History Farm, 4812 Orebank Road in Kingsport, will hold its 54th annual Fall Folk Arts Festival on Saturday, Sept. 26, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 27, from noon to 5 p.m. This celebration of traditional arts and crafts and the harvest season will feature artisans demonstrating and selling a wide array of heritage folk arts, along with autumn plants and seasonal items. Visitors will see demonstrations of 19th century skills such as sorghum making, coopering, lye soap making, blacksmithing, spinning and weaving, and hearthside cooking. There will also be food and music, and children's activities will be scattered around the farmstead. Admission is $5 for adults and free for children under 12.
