A Boogie Wit da Hoodie, Shelailai to headline ETSU concert

JOHNSON CITY — American rapper A Boogie Wit da Hoodie will headline this year's East Tennessee State University Student Government Association Fall Concert with special guest Shelailai, according to a press release. The concert will take place Wednesday, Oct. 7 at 7 p.m. at Freedom Hall Civic Center and will feature A Boogie Wit da Hoodie's distinctive melodic flows, hooks, trap beats and R&B elements. The release notes that A Boogie Wit da Hoodie had his first breakthrough with the 2016 mixtape "Artist." He has collaborated with artists like Khalid, Young Thug and Future, and also contributed to the "Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse" soundtrack. Shelailai, a Canadian/Caribbean alternative pop rapper, will add to the night with her sharp lyricism and genre-fluid sound, according to the news release. "She began building an audience through TikTok, where her rapid-fire delivery and meaningful songwriting gained attention, before bringing that energy to live performances," the release states. "With a growing presence in the alternative hip-hop and pop spaces, Shelailai brings an energetic and personal approach to the stage." Student tickets for the concert will become available at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 15 at the Carrier Center on the second floor of the D.P. Culp Student Center. Students get one free ticket with their student ID and can buy up to two additional tickets at a cost. Faculty and staff tickets will be available at a discounted price starting 9 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 22.
