WCRP hosts America 250 BBQ dinner, candidate forum

The Washington County Republican Party is inviting the community to its America 250 Barn BBQ Bash to celebrate the nation's milestone anniversary and host a November election candidate forum. "This is a wonderful opportunity for neighbors to come together, enjoy great music and food and engage directly with the people seeking to represent us," said Danielle Goodrich, chair of the Washington County Republican Party, in a press release. "As we celebrate America's approaching 250th anniversary, we're proud to host an event that highlights patriotism and the importance of civic participation." The free event, according to the release, will feature live music by the Blue Ridge Bluegrass Band while attendees enjoy barbecue and socialize. American flags and other patriotic decor will also create a festive atmosphere. Alongside the music and fellowship festivities will be the November Election Candidate Forum. The press release states participants at the dinner will hear and learn more about candidates running for city commission, school board and other local offices. Special guests expected at the forum include Tennessee State Rep. Rebecca Alexander, R–Jonesborough, U.S. Rep. Diana Harshbarger, R–Tenn., and Tennessee State Rep. Tim Hicks, R–Gray. Guests of the dinner and forum are encouraged to bring a side dish and a bag chair to the outdoor gathering. The Barn BBQ Bash and Candidate Forum will take place Sept. 13 at Boone's Falls Event Venue, located at 1770 Old Gray Station Road. From 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., guests can enjoy the food, live music and fellowship.
