KINGSPORT — Sophia Ashby scored in the final minutes, giving the Daniel Boone girls soccer team a rare victory at Dobyns-Bennett. The Lady Trailblazers left Indian Highland Park with a 2-1 triumph on Tuesday night. Mary Johnson scored a first-half goal for Dobyns-Bennett, before Evie Lizotte got the equalizer for Boone on a penalty kick, tying the halftime score 1-1. University High 4, Cosby 0 JOHNSON CITY — Charlotte Williams picked up right where she left off last season, starting 2026 with a hat trick as University High won its season opener over district rival Cosby. Anna Reeves had the Buccaneers' other goal. Harper Poston made eight saves for the clean sheet. Tennessee High 8, West Ridge 0 BLOUNTVILLE — Kadyn Kemmerer found the back of the net four times as the Lady Vikings opened victorious against their Sullivan County rivals. And that wasn't the only hat trick. Vivie Murphy scored three goals for one of her own. Carlie Harmon scored Tennessee High's other goal and assisted two others. Molly Hutchinson and Finley Hampton had one assist each. Greeneville 4, Volunteer 0 GREENEVILLE — Kinsley Spradlen scored Greeneville's first goal of the season on a Peyton Vaught assist, and Vaught doubled the Lady Devils' lead before Vivian Kamerdiener made it 3-0 at the half. Greeneville added one more score in the final 40. Khloe Sanders had eight saves for Volunteer. VOLLEYBALL Science Hill 3, Elizabethton 0 ELIZABETHTON — Chloe Conner finished one dig shy of a double-double in Science Hill's volleyball season opener. Conner slammed 12 kills to go with her nine digs, while matching Claire Lamb with two service aces as the Lady Hilltoppers swept Elizabethton on the road 25-15, 25-12, 25-18. Analee Horne and Blake Frazier recorded 12 and eight digs respectively, and Adalynn Massie handed out 13 assists while matching Clark with three service aces. Nila Horne served a team-high eight aces. Providence Academy 3, David Crockett 0 JOHNSON CITY — The Lady Knights swept Crockett in their home opener 25-22, 25-16, 25-22. Madi Hatfield and Abbie Ransom slammed nine and six kills respectively. Ellie Smith dished out 18 assists, Alison Berry made five digs and Quinn Wells served four aces. Lily Mango had seven kills for Crockett. Haley Corum tallied eight digs and four service aces, with Aolonah O'Dell recording 21 assists. FOOTBALL Saturday Tri-Cities Christian 48, American Sports Prep (Ala.) 8 GATLINBURG — Tri-Cities Christian collected its first victory as an official member of the TSSAA on Saturday. Scoring three touchdowns in each of the first two quarters, the Eagles cruised to a 1-1 start and will host The King's Academy at ETSU's William B. Greene Jr. Stadium for their home opener Aug. 27. Ian Kelly accounted for three of the touchdowns, two in the first quarter and another in the second covering 21, 11 and 56 yards. Kelly finished with 137 yards on just seven carries. Jordan Loimi went 43 yards for TCA's third touchdown and a 24-0 lead after one quarter. Coen Kestner passed for three 2-point conversions, hitting Kelly once and Maddox Johnson the other two times. Josiah Williams scored from 10 yards in the second quarter before catching a 2-point conversion for TCA's final points. Kelly and Nathan Mukeba each ran for a conversion. Kestner threw 21 yards to Johnson for the final touchdown. Kestner completed 4-of-5 passes for 99 yards, hitting Matthew Strickler three times for 78 with Kelly grabbing an interception.
