Robinson makes solid showing in junior golf finale

Aliezah Robinson finished strong in her last junior golf tournament before fully focusing on her ETSU career. Robinson placed 17th overall including pros at the Tennessee Women's Open, which ran July 23-25 at Crossville's Stonehenge Golf Club and featured more than 80 golfers, with former Dobyns-Bennett and current ETSU teammate McKenzie Hank also making the cut. At the Tennessee Women's Open, Robinson finished her final round 1-under par. One of just five players to shoot a round under par, Robinson carded a final score of 76-78-69-223. Afterward, Robinson received word in the middle of last week she'd been invited to the Granny Junior Invitational, Tennessee's top rated national Junior event at Nashville's Richland Country Club. Having participated in the Granny once her junior year but not performing how she wanted, Robinson chose to forego the tournament her senior year to play for Dobyns-Bennett in the Mike Mills Morristown Invitational Tournament. This time, Robinson was tied for the lead after one round at 2-under-par 69. After shooting 76 in the second round, Robinson was even through 16 before chipping in for birdie on 17 to move into second place. She made par on the 18th hold to finish the final round at 1-under and 69-76-70-215 for the tournament to finish runner-up. Missouri's Anna Bell shot 5-under to win, while New Orleans' Jade Neves shot 4-over 217 to place third. "I wasn't the country club kid. I had a job so I could earn the opportunity to play at my home course, and I grew up believing that if I was willing to outwork my circumstances, God could do more than I ever imagined," Robinson wrote in an Instagram post. "Looking back now, He has been faithful every step of the way." Robinson begins her ETSU golf career Aug. 24 at Clemson's Tiger Classic.
