Bella Lam steps 'Bootfirst' onto the Hard Rock stage Rising Asian-American country artist Bella Lam will perform at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Bristol Thursday, July 16. Following multiple appearances during CMA Fest in Nashville, Lam will bring her new single, "Bootfirst," to Bristol's Hard Rock stage at 8 p.m. "Bootfirst" follows her previously released singles "Tears In My Tequila" and fan favorite "Take It Out On My Guitar", the latter of which was featured on the American Country Network and The Heartland Network. Named one of Holler's "10 Artists You Need To Know," Lam has built a rapidly growing fanbase of more than 91,000 followers across social media. The 24-year-old songwriter and multi-instrumentalist is currently on tour in support of her new single. I was able to catch up with Lam on the road and ask a few questions in preparation for the upcoming show. What got you into music, what drives the desire? "My family, for sure. I grew up in a very musical family where literally everyone plays an instrument. My grandfather immigrated from China and wanted all of his descendants to be well-rounded. So my cousins play, my siblings play. My dad is an anesthesiologist with a music degree, so I think it's definitely in my blood. It's always been a hobby for the rest of my family, but for me, it's something I want to do every day for the rest of my life. I think my love of music, songwriting, and performing always drives me forward. It carries me through the hard times and into the good." Tell me about your current touring schedule, any highlights? "Oh, absolutely, I play about 100 shows a year with my band. It's always a fun time; we just got back from CMA Fest, where I got to meet tons of fans, play some pretty cool stages, and meet new industry friends. I have tons of upcoming shows, including the Hard Rock on the 16th." Favorite thing about performing live? "I put on a really great show, and I really love interacting with the crowd. I want them to have an amazing experience at my shows. Make them leave wanting more and with a massive smile. That's always my favorite part." What's on tap for you - new material, more touring? What does the future hold? "I just released my new single 'Bootfirst' on all platforms. Besides that, I'm writing so much new material for a potential album… I have so many songs that I can't wait for the fans to hear!" If you could tell people anything about you, to best describe who you are and what you do - what would it be? "I'd want people to know that I'm not just a singer; I'm an entertainer. I love writing songs, telling stories, and putting on a show people remember."
