Niswonger completes pediatric therapy renovation

JOHNSON CITY — The Ballad Health Niswonger Children's Network has finished renovating its outpatient pediatric therapy facility with 10 new treatment rooms and advanced equipment, according to a press release. The release states new amenities are meant to support children and families throughout their therapy, better enhancing their experience and strengthening care. The hospital provides physical, occupational and speech therapy for children in a sensory-friendly environment. Shannon Barker, Ballad Health's corporate director of outpatient services, said the expansion allows staff more bandwidth to meet the unique needs of all children. "One child might need help with developmental delays, while another might need some help with language delays or sensory regulation," Barker said in the news release. "Whether helping children meet developmental milestones of crawling and walking or assisting families with feeding difficulties, our therapists have the knowledge and techniques to help patients excel." The project was supported by a donation of nearly $200,000 from the estate of Mary Ann Nelson, a Sulphur Springs resident and former teacher at Daniel Boone High School. "We are incredibly honored to continue Mary Ann's legacy with this important project," said Chris Jett, chief executive officer of the Niswonger Children's Network, in the release. "Therapy services can be such a vital part of a child's care plan. Our therapists help children overcome challenges and develop independence, and Mary Ann's gift will directly help kids in our region every single day."
