What to know: Washington, Carter, Unicoi counties primary election day

County primary election day for Washington, Unicoi and Carter counties will be held on Tuesday. Precincts will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. for all three counties. Individuals may only vote in the county they reside in. Additionally, each district within the county has a designated precinct. Voters can confirm their precinct by checking their voter registration card at govotetn.gov or by visiting the Tennessee Comptroller of the Treasury's address lookup dashboard. Voters must bring a valid photo ID with them to the precinct to be able to participate. A valid photo ID includes: A valid Tennessee driver license A valid identification card issued by the state of Tennessee or the U.S. A valid U.S. passport A valid employee identification card issued by the state of Tennessee or the U.S. A valid U.S. military identification card A Tennessee handgun carry permit If an individual does not have a valid photo ID when they arrive to the precinct, they will be able to vote a provisional ballot. They will then be given two business days after election day to present their photo ID to the county's election commission office for their vote to be counted. The display or distribution of campaign materials is prohibited inside precincts. Voters, candidates or campaign workers must stay at least 100 feet away from a precinct if they wish to wear or distribute campaigning materials. Additionally, candidates and campaign workers are prohibited from soliciting within 100 feet of a precinct. Washington County Washington County will have 23 precincts throughout the county on Tuesday. All 15 districts in the county have at least one precinct. Voters who reside in certain districts can choose from more than one precinct to cast their vote.
