ECU breaks ground on new Johnson City branch

Eastman Credit Union recently held a groundbreaking ceremony to celebrate the construction of a new branch located at 2102 North Roan St. Kelly Price, president and chief executive officer of ECU, said the location will offer "an exciting transformation" for the property and is an investment in the Johnson City community. "This location will be larger than our typical branch, underscoring the expanded scope of the North Roan Street project," Price said. "But this is about more than square footage – it's an investment in a community that has played a vital role in ECU's story for almost three decades." The new branch will be 22,000 square feet and will provide additional corporate meeting space, lending offices and future opportunities supporting various ECU departments, according to a news release. It will also support consumer, mortgage and business lending needs while expanding ECU's capacity for enhanced service delivery. Alongside its larger size and additional amenities, the location will also reportedly feature a new rendition of ECU's "craftsman-style brand" by blending architectural elements with modern design enhancements to contribute to the local aesthetic. "This building reflects who we are today and where we are headed," said Price. "It honors the legacy of our brand while incorporating modern twists that will create a welcoming, energetic and functional space." According to the release, improving financial well-being and building community relationships are central to ECU's mission. "ECU builds more than branches," Price said. "We build trust, opportunity and long-term partnerships that strengthen the communities we serve." The release states the new branch is expected to open in summer 2027.
