ROUNDUP: Stallard, Duncan pitch Daniel Boone past Sullivan East

GRAY — On an evening where the offense struggled to find consistency, Daniel Boone pitchers Warner Stallard and Cole Duncan came up big on Monday. The pair allowed just five hits in a 4-2 victory over conference foe Sullivan East. Stallard got the start for the Trailblazers and tossed 5 ⅔ innings to earn a winning decision. However, he was the first to blink in the top of the third inning, allowing two runs. East's Luke Blevins opened the scoring with a sacrifice fly to left field, then T.K. Crowder added a second run on an RBI single. Boone's offense was able to pick the starter up, though, as the 'Blazers answered with a four-run frame in the bottom half of the inning. T.J. Leonard got the hosts on the board with a run-scoring single before Tanner Orth's base knock tied the game two batters later. Duncan gave the Trailblazers the lead with two outs with a two-run single to right field, making it 4-2. The Patriots had chances, including in the sixth when they had runners on second and third with just one out. Stallard was able to get a strikeout to keep the runner there before giving way to Duncan, who closed the inning with a groundout that Blevins nearly beat out. Duncan tossed the final 1 ⅓ perfectly for Boone, striking out a pair. Blevins had a strong outing out of the bullpen for the Patriots, striking out seven across 3 ⅓ scoreless frames. David Crockett 2, Tennessee High 1 JONESBOROUGH — Gabe Story scattered three hits and a walk across a complete-game effort for the Pioneers. He also struck out nine opposing hitters. Story also went 1-for-3 at the plate, as he and Luke Easterling accounted for Crockett's two hits. Knox Keesee was saddled with the tough-luck loss for the Vikings, as he didn't allow an earned run and struck out 10. Morristown West 4, West Ridge 3 MORRISTOWN — Urijah Marsingill hit a single into left field to plate Leo Hull and give the Trojans a walk-off victory in the bottom of the eighth. Hull and Nathan Ramsey each had two hits for the hosts. Ty Malak went 3-for-4 with a pair of RBI while both Parker Senn and Isaac McGee recorded two hits each for the Wolves. Cherokee 7, Volunteer 0 CHURCH HILL — Eli Boyd had three hits and drove in a pair of runs for the Chiefs. Connor Lyons, Porter Owen, and John Murrell all chipped in a pair of singles. Owen also earned the winning decision on the mound after five innings of shutout ball, striking out nine. Gavin Hickernell, Isaiah Ward, and Bryson Russell all singled for the Falcons. Elizabethton 3, University High 1 ELIZABETHTON — Jackson Buckles tossed a complete game for the Cyclones, allowing just three hits and not walking a batter while striking out seven. Bo Armstrong went 2-for-3 with an RBI single and Justin Whitehead scored a pair of runs. Anthony Margotta doubled and scored a run for the Buccaneers. Unicoi County 14, Chuckey-Doak 7 AFTON — Isaac Harris, Kolby Jones, Reid Bogart, and Tanner White all homered in an offensive explosion for the Blue Devils. Jones totaled five RBI for the game and White drove in three out of the nine-spot in the order. Gavin Crum and Kiptyn Ball both left the yard for the Black Knights. West Greene 6, Happy Valley 0 ELIZABETHTON — Jayden Cox allowed just two hits and struck out 10 batters in 5 ⅓ scoreless innings for the Buffaloes. Brandon Hunter drove in two RBI and Bronson Brown hit a pair of singles. Lane Parker and Mason Belt each had hits for the Warriors. Providence Academy 7, The King's Academy 2 (Game 1) JOHNSON CITY — Nash Martinez had two hits, including a triple, two runs scored, and two RBI for the Knights to open the doubleheader. Marcus Stine also had a pair of hits and Charlie Walker didn't allow an earned run in six innings. Tyrick Geerman and Zyricq Lacle each had muli-hit games for the Lions. Providence Academy 8, The King's Academy 2 (Game 2) JOHNSON CITY — Nash Martinez drove in a pair of runs on two hits to help the Knights complete the doubleheader sweep. Charlie Walker also had two hits and scored a run and Marcus Stine drove in two RBI. Logan Mee recorded a pair of singles and scored once for the Lions. Hampton 21, Cloudland 1 ROAN MOUNTAIN — Eli Henson went 3-for-3 with three runs scored and three RBI to lead the Bulldogs offense. Cade Nelson also had a three-hit game, driving in four and scoring three runs. Bo Wilson scored the Highlanders' lone run. Ridgeview 14, Twin Springs 3 NICKLESVILLE — The Wolfpack struck for eight runs in the fourth inning to blow the affair open. Colin Hill hit a three-run homer in the frame as he drove in four RBI total. Xavier Sawyer singled and scored a run for the Titans. SOFTBALL Science Hill 11, Morristown East 0 JOHNSON CITY — Ainsley Craft smoked a home run in each of her two at-bats, driving in four RBI for the Lady Hilltoppers. Kyleigh Metcalf and Reagan Carroll also had two-hit outings as part of a well-balanced offensive attack. Isabel Meeks drove in three RBI as well on top of a shutout in the circle. She recorded nine strikeouts to just two walks and two hits. Daniel Boone 8, Volunteer 5 GRAY — Abby Sherman and Payton Guinn each doubled for the Lady Blazers while recording two hits. McKenzie Shivers drove in three RBI and Sherman added a pair more. Sydney New doubled twice in four at-bats and Maddie Holder homered for the Lady Falcons. Greeneville 9, David Crockett 5 GREENEVILLE — Kaley Garland went a perfect 3-for-3 with a double, two runs scored and two RBI for the Lady Greene Devils. Brylee Tullock and Brooke Parsley also had multiple hits and Parsley drove in three RBI. Bella Blanton had three hits and Madelyn Dulaney scored four runs for the Lady Pioneers. Sullivan East 12, Hampton 2 BLUFF CITY — Ryleigh Joyner and Breanna Cretsinger each had three hits and both Sara Doss and Maddie Woods chipped in two more for the Lady Patriots. Joyner left the yard and Cretsinger tossed a no-hitter, striking out seven. Hannah Smith scored both Lady Bulldog runs after earning a pair of walks. Elizabethton 17, Johnson County 2 MOUNTAIN CITY — An 11-run top of the first inning gave the Lady Cyclones all of the cushion they would need and then some. Adrian Heading went a perfect 4-for-4 with a pair of RBI, Sadie Williams drove in four runs, and both Gracie Shepard and Lyla Hardin recorded three RBI. Ella Icenhour doubled for the Lady Longhorns. Unicoi County 7, North Greene 1 ERWIN — Lela Byrd tossed a no-hitter in the circle for the Lady Blue Devils, walking three and striking out 13 in the process. Byrd also homered at the plate, as did Kyndal Engle. Emmi Linkous doubled and drove in two RBI. Cloudland 10, Chuckey-Doak 0 (Game 1) ROAN MOUNTAIN — Willow Bennett homered and drove in four RBI to lead the Lady Highlanders in the first game of the doubleheader. Bennett, Savannah McCoury and Eowyn McCoury all had multi-hit games at the top of the lineup. Reagan Turbyfill struck out seven and allowed just two hits and four walks in the shutout. Cloudland 5, Chuckey-Doak 2 (Game 2) ROAN MOUNTAIN — Willow Bennett also homered in the second half of the double-dip. Savannah McCoury didn't allow an earned run and struck out nine. Madisyn Miller hit an RBI double and scored a run in the third for the Lady Knights. West Greene 6, University High 5 MOSHEIM — Kaylee Willet went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI for the Lady Buffaloes. Alexis Cutshall and Autumn Carter each also had multiple hits. Reece Williams singled twice and drove in a pair of runs for the Lady Buccaneers. BOYS SOCCER University High 6, Volunteer 0 JOHNSON CITY — Cooper Booth scored a pair of goals and recorded an assist for the Buccaneers. Caden Richards, Danny Rojas, JJ Poff, and Avian Pate all also found the back of the net. Richards and Mason Winfield each had a helper. AJ Campbell kept a clean sheet and made eight saves in goal.
