PREP ROUNDUP: West Ridge, Unicoi County join David Crockett in Eastman semifinals

KINGSPORT — Emma Wilson's RBI single in the bottom of the fourth inning lifted West Ridge to the Eastman Invitational semifinals with a 4-3 win over Clinton on Saturday night at Brickyard Park. West Ridge will face Walker County in the semifinals on Saturday at 10 a.m. Unicoi County and David Crockett will meet as well at 10 a.m., with the finals and third place games slated for noon. Nila Horne led West Ridge with three hits and Teagan Tipton added two, while Miranda Henley earned the win in relief of Zoey Blair. UNICOI COUNTY 2, VOLUNTEER 1 Lela Byrd allowed two hits and struck out 11 to lead the Blue Devils to the Eastman Invitational semifinals, holding off a sixth inning rally by the Falcons to advance to face David Crockett in the semifinals on Sunday at 10 a.m. Abigail Peterson had two hits for the Blue Devils, and joined Byrd with a double apiece. Volunteer pushed across a run in the top of the sixth to pull within one run. Rylee Smith scattered seven hits in taking the loss. DAVID CROCKETT 1, DOBYNS-BENNETT 0 Madelyn Dulaney allowed two hits and struck out 11 and also drove in lone run to lift the Pioneers to the Eastman semifinals for the third year in a row. Bella Blanton scored on a third inning triple by Dulaney. Olivia Aldridge and Ashlynn Chappell had a hit apiece in the loss. Allie McConnelee scattered six hits and took the loss in the circle. WALKER VALLEY 11, DANIEL BOONE 1 Aggie Greer's RBI single put the Trailblazers up 1-0 in the top of the first, but it was all Mustangs from that point. Daniel Boone finished with four hits, while Walker Valley pounded two Trailblazers' pitchers with 16 hits, and will face West Ridge in the semifinals on Sunday at 10 a.m. DANIEL BOONE 4, TENNESSEE HIGH 3 Aggie Greer had two hits and McKenzie Shivers drove in two runs to help the Trailblazers scored four runs in the opening two innings to eliminate the Vikings. Payton Guinn picked up the win for Daniel Boone, while Delaney Linkous and Nila Proffitt had two hits each for the Vikings. VOLUNTEER 4, COOKEVILLE 3 Jayden Ford's RBI single in the bottom of the seventh enabled the Falcons to complete a three-run rally to advance the quarterfinals. Averi Weston paced the Falcons with two hits and two runs scored, while Emily Walker picked up the win in the circle. DOBYNS-BENNETT 7, CLINTON 2 Evie Porter homered and Allie McConnelee doubled for the Indians, while Phoenix Ahles picked up the win in the circle for the Indians. Olivia Aldridge drove in two runs and Laiken Henson scored twice for Dobyns-Bennett. WALKER VALLEY 7, WEST RIDGE 5 Teagan Tipton had three hits and drove in two runs, but West Ridge suffered its first loss of the season to the Mustangs. Miranda Henley took the loss in the circle, but five errors by the Wolves didn't help the cause. UNICOI COUNTY 8, MACON-EAST 4 Aaliyah Engle had three hits, including a triple, drove in two runs and scored twice, and Milligan commit Kyndal Engle homer, tripled and drove in three runs for the Blue Devils. Abigail Peterson also hit a home run for Unicoi County. Carly Baxter picked up the win in the circle. VOLUNTEER 9, GREENBRIER 1 Emersyn Templeton had three hits, Emily Walker doubled and singled and Sydney New drove in two runs for the Falcons. A trio of Volunteer pitchers scattered six hits. DAVID CROCKETT 5, GREENBRIER 0 Madelyn Dulaney had three hits, including a triple and double, and combined with Lily Manga to hurl a five inning, four-hit shutout. Bella Blanton and Lacey Whitaker had two hits apiece. CLINTON 8, GREENEVILLE 2 Brynlee Jones drove in two runs and Brooke Parsley had two hits in a loss for the Greene Devils. GATE CITY 4, CHEROKEE 2 Lauren Monroe struck out 10 and Ava Jennings had three hits to lead the Blue Devils past the Chiefs. Rhyli Horne drove in two runs and Addison Keller had two hits in the win. Ledger Helton had two hits for Cherokee in a game played at the Scott County Sports Complex. CONCORD CHRISTIAN 12, PROVIDENCE ACADEMY 2 Concord Christian clubbed 15 hits to roll past the Knights. Margo Baldridge and Emma Caldwell had two hits each in the loss. BASEBALL UNIVERSITY SCHOOL 13, SULLIVAN EAST 0 Jacob Williams tripled and drove in four runs to lead the Buccaneers past the Patriots. Cole Stevenson struck out 13 on the mound, while allowing just one hit and no walks. Jonah Smith had the lone hit for the Patriots. PROVIDENCE ACADEMY 7, GALESBURG (ILL) 3 PROVIDENCE ACADEMY 4, KNOX CATHOLIC 3 Finn Moss drove in two runs for the Knights in a win over Galesburg, and then the Knights topped Knox Catholic with two hits each from Cole Blanton, Port Conger and Ford Bowman. PATRICK HENRY (VA) 2, GATE CITY 1 Kolby Hicks had two hits and limited the Blue Devils on the mound to lead the Rebels to the win at Abingdon. Dylan Carter had an RBI double for Gate City. DANIEL BOONE 9, LEBANON (VA) 4 Braden Gore had two hits and also earned the win on the mound for Daniel Boone. T.J. Leonard also added a pair of hits for the Trailblazers, which swiped nine bases.
