ROUNDUP: D-B baseball gets walk-off win over CAK

MORRISTOWN — The Dobyns-Bennett baseball team opened Thursday with a walk-off win over Division II-A contender CAK. Jarren Adams led off the bottom of the seventh with a line-drive double to left. He scored the winning run two batters later on a third-base error, after Andrew Reilly had hit a sacrifice bunt, and the Indians won 11-10 at Walters State. Reilly and Cam Hayworth, who hit a two-run homer, both went 2-for-4. Taylor Blankenship doubled, and Jaylen Thomas batted in three runs. Reilly also earned the win in relief, striking out three in the last 1 2/3 innings. Dobyns-Bennett 9, William Blount 2 T.J. Maxwell drove in three runs for D-B, which scored seven unanswered runs after William Blount pulled even in the fifth. Taylor Blankenship and Dalton Shelton both had two hits with Shelton, Jaylen Thomas and Maddox Martin all knocking a double. Walker Bishop went five innings and struck out four to get the four-hit win. Unicoi County 10, McEwen 9 The Blue Devils rallied to victory with five runs in the top of the seventh, starting with RBI hits by Angel Delgado and Caleb Murr (double). Daven Thompson scored the winning run on a two-out error. Broox Bennett (double), Thompson and Alex Laningham all had two hits for Unicoi County with Hudson Berry adding a double. Asher Wainwright earned the win after pitching the last 3 1/3 innings with two strikeouts and four hits allowed. Providence Academy 8, Kingston 4 MARYVILLE — Hudson Berry went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs from the nine-hole, as the Knights pushed across seven runs in the sixth inning after falling behind 3-1. Marcus Stine scored twice, and Finn Moss had two RBIs while also getting the win in relief — striking out two over the last three innings. Morristown East 5, West Ridge 4 BLOUNTVILLE — Landry Winstead drew a walk to lead off the top of the seventh, eventually stealing home for the winning run. Brett Carden and Maddex Winstead had two hits apiece, and Parker Setsor homered for MoEast. Reagan Moore went 3-for-4 to lead the Wolves, who got a double from Ty Malak. Rye Cove 16, Council 0 CLINCHPORT — Ty Hood and Gabe Ramsey combined for a five-inning no-hitter, Hood striking out five and Ramsey nine. Zach Lane finished just a single shy of the cycle, going 3-for-3 with four RBIs. Tyler Shupe (double, 5 RBIs), Will Rollins and Hagan Rhoton had two hits apiece. Happy Valley 13, TEACH Guardians 1 JOHNSON CITY — Lane Parker went 2-for-2, hitting a double and driving in two runs while scoring twice for the Warriors. Grady Goulds had two RBIs and a double of his own, with Maddox Beach pitching three innings and striking out seven to get the win. Pike Road (Ala.) 4, Science Hill 0 OXFORD, Ala. — Gunner Gibbs went five innings for Pike Road, striking out four and scattering two hits to outduel Caden Wells (4.1 IP, 2 Ks, 4 hits) at the Choccolocco Park Classic. Herbert Reyes went 3-for-3 with two doubles, and Chandler Boyd hit a solo home run. Haydon Smelser singled and stole a base for Science Hill. Chuckey-Doak 7, Johnson County 4 MOUNTAIN CITY — Kiptyn Ball and Shane Cook both went 3-for-4 as the Black Knights scored at least one run in six of the seven innings. Lynkin Cutshaw struck out 12 over 5 2/3 innings for the win. Braxton Bragg went 2-for-4 to lead the Longhorns. SOFTBALL West Ridge 6, Lee High 5 BLOUNTVILLE — Caydence Spears hit a two-out RBI single to center, scoring Zoey Blair for the walk-off win in the eighth inning as West Ridge improved to 4-0. The Lady Wolves fell behind 5-2 in the seventh but rallied with back-to-back run-scoring singles from Teagan Tipton and Lacey Fugate. Spears finished 3-for-5 with a double and two runs scored. Nila Horne (double) and Fugate both went 2-for-3. Miranda Henley pitched the final inning in relief to earn the win. Addie Taylor hit a solo home run for Lee, which got doubles from Gracie Garrett (2-for-4) and Maddie Galloway. Dobyns-Bennett 6, Gate City 1 GATE CITY — Allie McConnelee gave D-B the lead with her two-run blast in the fifth, and the Lady Indians added four more runs in the seventh. Riley McMillan and Laiken Hinson both singled twice. Phoenix Ahles batted in two runs and struck out 12 to get the one-hit win. Rye Cove 8, Virginia High 3 BRISTOL, Va. — Riley Fonseca, Allison Akers, Gracen Chavez and Aubrey Sartin collected two hits apiece as the Lady War Eagles opened the season victorious. Beth Beaver added three RBIs, and Sartin had two while scoring twice. Hannah Leedy pitched three innings and fanned six with three hits allowed to earn the win. Elizabethton 15, Sullivan East 4 BLUFF CITY — Sadie Williams drove in four runs and scored three, batting 3-for-5 and finishing a triple shy of the cycle. Ava Hanson (double) and Piper Bennett both collected two hits, while Lacey Gobble and Hanson each pitched three innings and combined for five strikeouts. Piper Smith and Maddie Woods (double) led East. Tennessee High 10, Twin Springs 3 BRISTOL, Tenn. — Katy Granger and Taylor Carmody, batting in the No. 7 and No. 9 holes, both homered for the Lady Vikings. Carmody hit a two-run blast to break the scoreless tie and finished 3-for-3 with five RBIs and also a double. Carat Harris had two hits and struck out six in her nine-hit win. Emma Ross, Sarah Davidson and Kenzie Gillenwater had two hits each for Twin Springs. BOYS SOCCER Unicoi County 2, Sullivan East 0 BLUFF CITY — Ricardo Muniz and McKinley Norris both scored and lifted the Blue Devils to a district victory Thursday night. Benny Acevedo grabbed eight saves in his clean sheet, with Landon Brummett and Nehemiah Campbell dishing out one assist each. Gatlinburg-Pittman 3, Elizabethton 1 ELIZABETHTON — Thomas Lambert scored for the Cyclones on a Connor Blevins assist, but it wasn't enough against Class A powerhouse G-P.
