Jonesborough's Easter Eggstravaganza set for March 28

Bunny business returns as Jonesborough ushers in spring with thousands of hidden treats and a day of family-friendly festivities during its annual Easter Eggstravaganza. The town will host the event from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, March 28, in downtown Jonesborough, according to a press release from the Town of Jonesborough. Families can spend the afternoon enjoying face painting, children's crafts and photos with the Easter Bunny while exploring a Touch-a-Truck display, featuring vehicles from the Jonesborough Fire Department, Police Department, Street Department and Water Department. The event will also include an inflatable obstacle course and a petting zoo with miniature horses, sheep, goats and rabbits, according to the release. The centerpiece of the celebration will be the community egg hunt at Jimmy Neil Smith Park, where children ages 12 and younger can search for more than 5,000 candy-filled eggs. To keep the hunt fair and fun for younger participants, organizers have divided it into four age groups. Children ages 9 to 12 will begin at 12:30 p.m., followed by ages 6 to 8 at 1 p.m., ages 3 to 5 at 1:30 p.m. and ages 2 and younger at 2 p.m. Festivities will continue into the evening with two free movies at The Jackson Theatre on March 28, sponsored by Christ Church of Jonesborough. "Prince of Egypt" will be shown at 3 p.m., followed by "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe" at 7 p.m. Visitors can also stop by the McKinney Center inside the Christopher Taylor Cabin for a free Easter craft. Central Christian Church will offer a 40-foot obstacle course, weather permitting, along with free nachos and cheese and another free Easter craft, according to the release.
