Get to know... Jamon Lee

I first met Jamon Lee when I hosted his band Ham Radio on the old "From the Warehouse" video series we produced on our websites. I liked the band, liked their direction and liked the fact that Jamon and his band mates were willing to work hard to see their dreams come to fruition. They were busy writing at the time and looking forward to playing more shows and getting the sound out. I was more than happy to have them in the Warehouse lineup of regional artists. Since then, they've played a lot of shows throughout the region, recorded an album that's ready to see the light of day and signed with a local label with their friend and mentor Tim Coleman. Things are looking up for the band and Jamon and they have the desire and energy to keep things moving in the right direction. I haven't heard the new album, but I can say I look forward to it. If you're interested in hearing it, you can find Ham Radio on social media channels - and spend a few moments with the article below to get to know Jamon Lee. When did you decide music was going to be a big part of your life, and how did you first get involved? "It was something that started as soon as I was born. My dad was a musician, so, as early as I can remember, I was listening to bands like Deftones and Korn. I started messing with guitars when I was 3 and really started learning when I was 10. I started playing drums at 5, that was my first instrument, funny enough." Is this current project the first, or have you been involved in other things? "No! I've been in a few different bands earlier on, but me and Stephan (guitarist) and my brother Josh (bassist) have always been in the same projects together. So, really just early iterations of Ham Radio." What is it about music that makes you want to perform or be involved? "I love to write music, it's something i just have to do. It's my favorite part of being in a band and it always has been, but coming in at a hot second is performing live. I just crave the feeling of being vulnerable and putting myself out there on a stage." How would you describe your music/band/project? "My band Ham Radio is an alternative-emo-rock band. Our influences range from Nirvana to Blink to Angels Airwaves and even modern stuff, like the Story So Far and No Pressure." Is this something you see yourself doing as a career? "Absolutely, that's the goal - success to me is paying my bills and consistently touring, I don't care about being 'famous.' Also, we're releasing our debut record in January 2026 via Goldship Records. We worked so hard on it." What are your other interests? Do you have any surprise talents or hobbies? "Yes! I love to skateboard. I love camping and hiking and recently I've started to grill. I love the process of cooking meats." Who are your influences/favorites (worldwide and local)? "Ocoai was a local band that inspired me as a kid and The Showdown - my cousin Travis Bailey plays guitar for them and he inspired me a tremendous amount. That led to connections with Aaron Gillespie and all sorts of cool stuff." If you could tell people one thing they should know about you, what would it be? "I'm funny and i just like to have a good time. I try not to take life too seriously and I'm super open to collaborating with everyone. As I said, I just like to write music. My brother also just started Rebel Audio and I'm helping as a songwriter and session musician." How can people contact you about booking and information? "That's handled by one man, my manager and agent Tim Coleman. You can reach him at tim@swansongmusic.com."
