Dr. A. Tyler Putnam, FACS, FCCM, has joined Mountain States Medical Group Trauma Services.
Putnam, an acute care surgeon, received his medical degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine, Baltimore, and completed his residency at Wilford Hall Air Force Medical Center, Texas. He completed a fellowship at the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center.
He is dual board-certified by the American Board of Surgery in surgery and critical care, and is a Fellow of the American College of Critical Care Medicine and the American College of Surgeons.
Putnam served 24 years in the U.S. Air Force, most recently as chief, Trauma/Critical Care, in Landstuhl, Germany, and Balad, Iraq. He is now medical director of Trauma Services for Johnson City Medical Center’s Level 1 Trauma Center and chief of Acute Care Surgery.
He is an associate professor at Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine (adjunct) and held academic appointments at the University of Maryland and Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences.
Putnam is an active researcher and continues to publish in peer-reviewed literature. He has presented his research and educational initiatives to 65 countries and continues active involvement in humanitarian and mission surgical initiatives at home and abroad.
