Milligan College lost its women’s basketball home opener 70-54 to Lees-McRae on Tuesday night at Steve Lacy Fieldhouse.
The Lady Buffs went ahead early and took a 22-14 lead with six minutes left in the first half. Lees-McRae cut into the lead and took a 32-28 advantage into halftime. In the second half, Milligan got within four points (47-43) on a Chelsey Weddle 3-pointer, but couldn’t get any closer.
Jamiee Hill led Milligan with 14 points, while Alisha Mainer had eight points and seven rebounds. Johneshia Good also had eight points for Milligan.
The Lady Buffs (0-2) play host in the Milligan Classic starting on Friday. The Buffs begin the tournament with a 7:30 p.m. game against St. Thomas.
