A while back, a gentleman wrote to the newspaper about violent media. I had to do research on the topic of violent video games for a school paper. In my opinion, violent video games have the biggest effect on children’s minds.
They see their older siblings playing these games that show rape, theft and gang violence. One of my sources even said the military was using video games to psychologically train soldiers before boot camp. And children are playing these games.
Most children nowadays barely know what Tetris even is. As a junior, I walk around school and watch my classmates. I’ve noticed that most of the violent students talk about violent video games all the time. They talk about the best guns and how they screamed at some little kid that joined online.
Almost every single person I’ve come in contact with who calls themselves a gamer acts like a wild dog when they’re angry. I always expect them to start foaming at the mouth. It’s really sad honestly, that kids think they have to play violent video games to relieve stress.
Instead of sitting on our butts, we could be job shadowing for our careers, or even just hanging out with friends. But everything has gone viral, and we’re eventually going to destroy ourselves with technology.

Wow.. This is a little bit of a stretch, and when I say a little bit, I mean a rather large stretch. Even when reading the results from studies done on the effects of violent video games on children, those reporting the results even say that the games themselves have very little effect, if any, on the psyche of children, that it is in fact their surroundings and their upbringing that has more effect on whether or not they will become prone to violence. Now as a "gamer" myself, and one who plays games such as Call of Duty, Halo, Dishonoured, or Assassin's Creed, which are all pretty intense in their respective levels of violence, when I become angry or aggitated I do not start "foaming at the mouth" or "act like a wild dog". Also I do not talk only about violent video games all the time. I have a full time job, I am a full time college student, and am active in my community. Perhaps you should do more research into your topic before you throw all gamers into one lump and glean only from sterotypes and misinformation. You might lend more credibility to what you are talking about.
