It is well established in our culture that those making more pay a higher percentage of it in income taxes. It was so when they received around 15 percent more than the median income group and more reason now, since they receive, if not earn about a thousand times more.
Why does our Republican majority in the U.S. House think things should be different? Is it because they think the rich will value money more and flee the country? The Republicans in our Senate, probably richer, seem more agreeable that richer pay a higher percentage. The South voted solidly right-wing this past election. I wonder how much the hate in Fox News and Southern talk radio had to do with it?
A friend said he had never heard hate from the media until he moved South and heard those two. Those two accuse public TV of bias. Also, conservatives seem to think they have the moral high ground.
The “Widow’s Mite” describes God’s philosophy that those who pay from need pay more than all who pay from excess. Also, God’s attitude toward the death of the unborn is referred to in the so-called “Law of Moses,” Exodus 21:22. There, two men are “striving” — fighting in some translations — and bumping into a pregnant woman causing a miscarriage. The father then determined the fine with the judge’s approval. The role of the judge was to make sure the law is followed.
If the woman died, the perpetrator was to be put to death. So, the killing of the fetus was not murder. If you don’t believe Exodus, read the last verse in John 5, and account for dinosaurs. The Bible isn’t wrong or always literal.

The "rich" already pay a higher income tax percentage. Much higher. The top 5% already pay something around 40% of the total amount of taxes collected by the government. So they are already paying more than their fair share.
