Hazel Lynne Shipley Denton became one of heaven’s angels on March 13, 2013, at the age of 94.
A native of Bristol, TN, she was the daughter of the late J.P. and Belle O’Dell Shipley. She was a member of Central Holston Christian Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, H.M. Denton Sr.; one son, Eddie Denton; son-in-law, Kenneth Gentry; granddaughter, Angie Goins; two sisters; and one brother.
Hazel will be lovingly remembered and treasured for her many homemaking interests and talents. One of her greatest joys was fixing Sunday lunch for her children, grandchildren and all fortunate friends who showed up to eat her lovingly prepared meals! She loved baking cookies for her grandchildren, great grandchildren and neighbors. Rarely would anyone come to her home and she not have cookies available and ready to be shared with all. Hazel loved working in her flower gardens and the yard was always a garden showplace. Her home was her castle! Hazel loved reading and exchanging books with caregivers and neighbors to the very end.
