Billy Joe L. Jacobs, 78, passed away Monday, February 4, 2013 at Bristol Regional Medical Center.

He was preceded in death by his parents James Tillman and Mary Colleen Thompson Jacobs, two brothers and two sisters.

He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and his loving grandchildren. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and he was a member of Piney Flats Presbyterian Church.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years Dorothy Poston Jacobs; daughter, Amy Wood and friend Greg Whitaker; son, Joe Jacobs and wife Melissa; grandchildren, Timothy J. Whitaker, Jenna Jacobs and Dawson Jacobs; brother, James T. (Junior) Jacobs and wife Louise; sisters-in-law, Maxine Dempsey and Shirley Jacobs; brother-in-law, Clyde Poston; several nieces and nephews; and his hunting buddy Harry Griffin.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Wednesday, February 6, 2013, at Piney Flats Presbyterian Church. The funeral service will follow at 7:00 PM with Dr. Robert Rainwater officiating.

The committal service and interment will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, February 7, 2013, at Shell Cemetery in Piney Flats, Tennessee.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in honor of Mr. Jacobs to Piney Flats Presbyterian Church, 6400 Highway 11E, Piney Flats, Tennessee 37686 or to the American Heart Association, 3101 Browns Mill Road, Suite 6, PMB 321, Johnson City, TN 37604.
