Frances Tipton, 87, Johnson City, died unexpectedly Friday, January 25, 2013, at her residence.

Mrs. Tipton was a native of Johnson City and was a resident of Detroit, Michigan, for eighteen years before returning here in 1971.

She was a daughter of the late Jack Renfro and Bertha Barnett.

Mrs. Tipton was a homemaker.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her 1st husband, Howard Wiggand; 2nd husband, Fred Tipton; a son, Donald Franklin Wiggand; three brothers; and two sisters.

Mrs. Tipton is survived by six children, Phyllis Riddle and husband, Howard, Erwin, Betty Pugh and husband, Danny, Chuckey, Billy Tipton, Bakersville, NC, Joann Cutshall and husband, Buck, Limestone, Dennis Tipton and Raymond Tipton, both of Johnson City; one sister, Betty Hensley and husband, Doc, Jonesborough; nine grandchildren; several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be conducted Thursday, January 31, 2013, at 1:00 P.M. from the East Chapel of the Appalachian Funeral Home with Pastor Danny Willis officiating.

Interment will follow in Roselawn Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends Thursday prior to the service from 11:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. in the East Parlor of the funeral home.
