Charles Street Jr., age 72, of the Buladean community, the son of the late Charlie and Frances Street, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 5, 2012.

Charles was a loving family man and a devoted Christian. Charles retired from Henredon Furniture after nearly 37 years. He was a dedicated member of Middle District Free Will Baptist Church, where he served as church treasurer, Sunday School superintendent and a faithful trustee for well over 20 years.

Charles was preceded in death by a son, Charles Street III; as well as six brothers and one sister.

He is survived by his wife, Edna Phillips Street, of the home; his daughter, Cherry Huskins and husband, Bill, and his granddaughter, Brandy Huskins, all of Buladean; his grandson, Brandon Huskins and wife, Cassandra, and his two treasured great grandchildren, Brayden Charles and Marci Grace, of Johnson City, TN. He is also survived by one sister, Pauline Jenkins, and two brothers, Henry Street and Fred Street, all of Buladean; and many nieces, nephews and a host of family and friends.

Charles was a beloved member of his community and church and will be sorely missed by all who knew him. While sorrowful, the family takes great comfort in the Scripture found in II Cor. 5:8, which gives the assurance that “to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.” The knowledge that Charles is now at perfect peace in a land free from sorrow, pain and separation does much to ease the loss.

The family would like to thank each person for their thoughts and prayers and ask for continued prayers in the days ahead. A special thanks to the family members who assisted with his care and to the employees of Hospice for all their help, care and concern.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, December 7, 2012, at Middle District Free Will Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, also at the church. Revs. Charles Trivette, Stephen Miller and Scott Jenkins will officiate.

Interment will follow in the Charles and Frances Street Family Cemetery on Pine Root Branch Rd. in Buladean.
