Opal Ramsey Love left for her heavenly home on Thursday, December 6, 2012.

She was a native of Yancey County, NC. Following her graduation from High School in 1942, she moved to Erwin, TN. Mrs. Love was the last surviving child of Jobe and Lyda Miller Ramsey.

She worked at several area flower shops. However, her career, by choice, was to be a good wife & mother to her two sons. She had a strong work ethic and instilled the same in Bill and Bobby to learn to work on the farm. A top priority was to take her sons to church without missing a Sunday. Mrs. Love was of the Free Will Baptist Faith.

In addition to her parents, Opal is preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Robert Love, who passed away in November of 1988; one son, Rev. Bill Love, who passed in Oct. 2006; one sister and brother-in-law, Myma Bailey and husband, Floyd; and three brothers and sisters-in-law, Johnnie Ramsey and wife, Ruth, Niram Ramsey and wife, Zora, and Tate Ramsey and wife, Trula.

Surviving family members include: Son: Robert “Bobby” Love Jr. and wife, Becky, of Erwin; Grandchildren: Robert Lee Love III and wife, Tonya, Anthony Ramsey Love and wife, Pam, Deanna LoveSmith and husband, Bruce, Bill Love and wife, Kelly; Great-Grandchildren: Tara Rebecca Love, Robert Lee Love IV, Ramsey Katherine Love, Brady Robert Love, Trent Doran Love, Austin Woods LoveSmith. She is also survived by several Special Nieces and Nephews.

The family would like to express their appreciation for the medical attention given by Dr. Kevin Sweet, Dr. Fawwaz Hamati, Dr. J.W. Colinger, the 4300 wing of JCMC and Center on Aging and Health.

A Funeral Service for Mrs. Opal Love will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, December 8, 2012, in the Chapel of Valley Funeral Home. Reverend Kevin Laws will officiate. Eulogies will be provided by Becky Love, Rob Love and Anthony Love. Musical selections will be provided by the Southside Freewill Baptist Church Trio and Tyler Williams.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until service time at Valley Funeral Home on Saturday and other times at the home of Bobby and Becky Love, 2060 Temple Hill Road, Erwin, TN 37650.

A Committal Service will follow at Evergreen Cemetery. Serving as active pallbearers will be Keith Whitson, Bobby Love, Rob Love, Anthony Love, Mitch Manuel, Bill Love, Clarence Bailey and Gary Bailey. Honorary Pallbearers will be Nephews, Men of Southside Freewill Baptist Church, Kent Harris and Michael Hensley.
