A Maryville man is dead following a police standoff and shootout early this morning in East Maryville, officials said.

The identity of the 27-year-old man was not released, and the names of the three officers — two Maryville police officers and one Blount County Sheriff’s Office deputy — involved in the shooting were not released.

“They are on administrative paid leave as is protocol,” Maryville Police Chief Tony Crisp said.
