A Lancing man was arrested Wednesday after he allegedly threatened someone with a knife, according to court affidavit.

According to the court document, John E. Scalf, 23, 114 Morgan Road, was charged after an officer responded to an aggravated assault report at 1884 State Route 34, where a man told him that he and Scalf had a verbal argument, which then turned into physical assault.

According to the victim, Scalf pulled a butterfly knife on him and then told him he was going to kill him.

The report said the victim then feared for his life, left the residence and called 911.

Scalf was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and was taken to the Washington County Detention Center where he was being held on $25,000 bond.

He was scheduled to appear in Sessions Court Thursday at 1:30 p.m.

I hate that we live in an era where you can be arrested for allegedly making threats.
