Police were called to local fast food restaurant on South Roan Street Wednesday after a report of a more than $2,000 being embezzled, according to Johnson City police.

According to a report, the complainant, Mary K. Reynolds, 52, called the police and said from Oct. 1 until Feb. 12, a person working the cash register at Burger King, 1910 S. Roan St., had been discounting cash only transactions and pocketing money.

Reynolds told police a witness had approached her about the suspect pocketing the money and said she waited until Wednesday to report the embezzlement because of the amount of transactions the suspect made and video recordings of the alleged actions.

According to the report, approximately $2,746 was pocketed in cash transactions.

Reynolds said a signed statement and letter of termination was available and will be placed into evidence along with transaction reports that shows the cash transactions.

The investigation has been turned over to CID and no arrests have been made.
