An Elizabethton man was arrested Monday on a charge that he walked out of a Johnson City Walmart with a shopping cart filled with items he never bought.

Tyler N. Edwards, 20, 340 Coal Chute Road, Elizabethton, was charged with felony shoplifting after the incident at the Walmart at 3111 Browns Mill Road.

Police said Edwards selected 85 items worth $678 and put them in a shopping cart and walked out with the shopping cart without paying for any of the items. Walmart loss prevention employees stopped him before police got there.

Edwards was held in the Washington County Detention Center on $5,000 bond pending a Sessions Court appearance Tuesday.
