ABINGDON, Va. — A Washington County, Va., man has been charged with several sex-related offenses, including taking indecent liberties with a child, Sheriff Fred Newman announced Tuesday in a news release.

Hursel Harold Elkins Jr., 43, was arrested after an investigation into allegations of sexual offenses occurring between 2009 and 2012.

Along with indecent liberties charge, Elkins was charged with rape and animate object sexual penetration.

Elkins was held in the Southwest Virginia Regional Jail in Abingdon without bond. A bond hearing was set for Thursday.
