A search for a wanted man at a Johnson City motel led police to a sawed-off shotgun early Saturday morning, resulting in an additional charge.

Clint Chandler, 37, 116 Spring City Dr., Lot No. 44, was arrested after police went looking for him at Motel 6 at 207 E. Mountcastle Drive, room 239, to serve a domestic assault warrant.

Police found Chandler with a sawed-off shotgun with a barrel less than 13 inches long, according to a news release.

Along with the domestic assault charge, police charged Chandler with possession of a prohibited weapon. He was jailed in the Washington County Detention Center on $11,000 bond pending a Sessions Court appearance Monday.

I wonder if they'll give him the full 10 years/$100,000 fine for violating the NFA.

Screw the NFA. That charge should be dropped. The NFA is bad policy. There are two main reasons the infringement of our 2'nd amendment called the NFA was passed into "law". Just like with ANY type of prohibition, alcohol prohibition gave rise to a huge and lucrative black market, and like with any black market, the people that trade in this market do not have access to the court system, so they are forced to use violence to protect their property and settle disputes. Now that we have a crisis of the governments own making, and tons of enforcement agents out of work with the end of alcohol prohibition , they passed the NFA and created the ATF to give those people something to do. In summary, the government caused a problem by interfering in the market, then, as usual, tried to solve the problem with the same logic that caused the problem in the first place.
