ELIZABETHTON — The Carter County Sheriff’s Department got some help from the Johnson City Police Department in making an arrest into last week’s burglary of a Stoney Creek residence.

Christopher Allen Arnold, 24, 1726 Dave Buck Road, Apt. 402, Johnson City, was arrested last week by the Johnson City police on unrelated charges. During an inventory of Arnold’s vehicle after his arrest, Johnson City officers became suspicious because of some of the items found in the car, leading Lt. Billy Church to call the CCSD to find out if it had received reports of any recent burglaries.

Deputy Brady Higgins said the items found by the Johnson City officers matched the description of items taken in a Jan. 2 burglary at the residence of Frank Estep, Tenn. Highway 91.

Estep told Higgins a thief had broken into his home by forcing open the garage door. The burglar had then gone to the bedroom of Estep’s father, Kenneth Estep, and stolen jewelry, guns, cameras and a Dell laptop computer.

Frank Estep went to the JCPD and identified the items as being stolen from his home. Church said a pen had also been found in Arnold’s car which had Kenneth Estep’s business logo on it.

Arnold was transported from the Washington County Jail on Wednesday. He is scheduled to appear in Carter County Sessions Court on Feb. 1.
