A Johnson City man was charged Wednesday following an investigation into missing appliances, according to a police press release.

Johnson City police said John W. Norton II, 31, 369 S. Broadway St., was arrested after appliances went missing from 400 N. Boone St., a location that was being renovated and where he had been working.

Norton allegedly had access to the appliances and arranged to have them picked up and sold to a third party, where he reportedly pocketed the money.

Police said he did not own the property and did not have permission to sell any of the appliances.

Norton was charged with theft over $1,000 and theft over $500.

He was taken to the Washington County Detention Center and was being held on $15,000 bond.

Norton was scheduled to appear in Sessions Court for arraignment Thursday.
