Johnson City police arrested an Orleans Street woman Thursday on an accusation that she stole merchandise from the north Johnson City Walmart.

Harriett A. Charles, 53, 1400 Orleans St., arrested after she attempted to push $679 worth of merchandise out of Walmart, 3111 Browns Mill Road, without paying for it, police said in a news release.

Charged with theft of property over $500, Charles was jailed in the Washington County Detention Center on $10,000 bond pending a Sessions Court appearance Monday.
