One hospitalized after Erwin house fire

ERWIN — A man was injured in a Thursday morning residential fire in Erwin.

Erwin Fire Department Chief Darren Bailey said his department was dispatched to the fire, which occurred at 112 7th Avenue, at around 8 a.m. Bailey said the home's resident was transported to the Johnson City Medical Center and was in the intensive care unit. The man's name was not yet released.

Bailey said the home was destroyed by a combination of the fire and smoke damage. He said the cause of the fire was still under investigation.
