ROGERSVILLE — A married couple, including the ex-wife of a Hawkins County man who was shot to death and set on fire in March, are being sought in connection with a murder and cover up.

Attorney General Berkeley Bell told the Times-News Wednesday he believes the murder was motivated by an altercation between the victim 36-year-old Christopher Varalli, and the ex-wife’s 17-year-old son who Varalli was raising.

Varalli was found dead by a mail carrier and retired fireman who noticed the smoke inside Varalli’s burning mobile home at 340 George Allen Road in the Stanley Valley community of Hawkins County. An autopsy indicated Varalli died from multiple gunshot wounds as well as a toxic concentration of cyanide which was caused by the fire.
