An Elizabethton man was arrested early Sunday morning on charges that he cut three people with a knife at a Johnson City night club.

Jeremy Peters, 33, 102 Runion St., Elizabethon, was charged with three counts of aggravated assault after the incident at Next Door, 413 W. Walnut St.

Police were called to the club about 12:25 a.m. In a news release, police said Peters showed up at Sycamore Shoals Hospital's emergency room in Elizabethton with cuts to his hands and advising he had been involved in a stabbing in Johnson City.

Witnesses told police an altercation began when Peters offended the daughter of a man working the door at Next Door. After several attempts to remove Peters from the premises, he finally ended up outside and another altercation between Peters, the girl's father and a Next Door employee began. Peters cut three people with a knife, police said.

Peters was jailed in the Washington County Detention Center on $45,000 bond pending a Sessions Court appearance Monday.

$45,000 bond for stabbing three people is way too low.

I agree shawnbo. It's malarkey.

When you get kicked out of a bar, it's time to go home. If you come back with a knife of course the bouncers are going to kick your rear-end. The owners have a right to protect their establishment and the other patrons. Also, it's generally a bad idea to "offend" a man's daughter who's working the door at a bar with her father nearby.

Anyone who returns to a bar after they have been kicked out for being disorderly is looking for a fight. It doesn't matter if alcohol is a factor...alcohol is no excuse.

I agree with you localyocal and also know the accused as well and as long as you,

i guess that people are so quick to judge and point fingers when they are truly the ones who are guilty, also reporters are quick to report without knowing the rest of the story. Word of mouth travels fast.

If you get kicked out of a bar and come back, you're obviously looking for trouble and deserve to get your @$$ kicked. The moron is lucky he didn't end up getting stabbed.

The man was thrown out of the establishment, returned later with a knife, and then used it to stab 3 people. He cannot argue that his actions were in self-defense. I agree with the posters that state that he should be charged with attempted murder.

The person that left and then returned with intent (to argue - fight - use the bathroom - whatever the reason) or to retaliated should have used common sense and called a taxi to drive him home. Fortunately for everyone, no guns were involved. The bottom line this is a lesson for all. The courts love this kind of case; it keeps the courts in business.

BTW The owner of this establishment is a good guy. This incident should not give adverse publicity to this great entertainment venue.

Also, it should be known that the owner of The Next Door was out of town that night. He was not there and not involved. No blame should be put on the venue, it was entirely out of his control.

localyocal, none of us are dumb people. We are simply commenting on the information as it was reported. So sorry you were under the impression that all the readers have crystal balls. If you have a beef, you need to take it up with the reporter for allegedly misreporting or the police if they have mischarged the perpetrator. Your post makes you come across as half-baked and hysterical. If the perpetrator did in fact go back with a knife after being extracated from the premises, that is NOT self-defense. That would fall into the category of stupid. Yes, we have all made mistakes, but stabbing three people is not a mistake, it's a criminal offense. P.S., It's yokel, not yocal.

How about a report from someone who was there. I am 43 years old and have been a nurse for 22 years. Don't really like the comments about the type people that listen to this kind of music. The music I listen to doesn't make me who I am. One of the people that got stabbed was working there, he checked to see if everyone paid to get in and was working the door. Yes one of the victims and the person with the knife were cousins. And? what does this change. He still left the place, got a knife, and come back after he had been kicked out for unwantingly touching the daughter of the one working that got stabbed. This shows intent, he didn't come back to apologize. No matter what happened, there is no excuse for violence, not even alcohol. So, get the story straight. Facebook tells another persons account of what happened. How do you know that is the truth? You don't, you were not there. I don't know the whole story, so how does anyone that wasn't involved. What I am greatful for is the fact that everyone that was injured is going to be OK.

to all those who have shown us support we appreciate you..I'm am the father of the 17 yr.daughter..also the one working the door, and checked to make sure everyone was ok before i went to the er myself...naturally,like the rest of life and history people who have something negative to were more than likely not even at the show and have no idea of the facts...everyone wants to make the issue about alcohol and three hippies jumping 1 person for fun. that's not the way it happened.i was there.i was involved..i took 30 stitches to my face of this loser trying to protect my daughter from the pedophile..and would do it again in a heart beat...he left the venue and came back with a knife to seek revenge over something that he started...as far as the facts go..i went to speak to the reporter myself and he gave me a copy of the official press release from the JCPD. and that's what he based his story on....i am personally going to see if we can get the charges changed to attempted murder.. a witness came to me and said that they would testify that he told her that he was in fact going to come back in and start stabbing people and that's exactly what he did...now anyone that was there could tell you.he stabbed me in the face before i started swinging..he had already cut one guy and stabbed me in the face.so i defended myself but im over arguing with a bunch of loser's who were not even there to begin with..and to everyone else thank you show much for the support u have shown us..i sincerly thank you from the bottom of my heart....to the bands..we will make this up...to the venue, jim and the entire staff..you have my deepest apology and they are in way responceable for any of this..the coffee house is one of the best places in jc to have a casual social drink and have a good time and i will continue to visit there regardless of the outcome of this situation....TO THE FANS..I HAVE SPOKEN WITH THE PLAGUES OF PROPHECY ANF WE HAVE ALL AGREED ON A FREE SHOW IN THE NEXT FEW WEEKS..IT WAS UNFAIR TO YOU,THE BANDS AND THE VENUE THAT THIS SHOW WAS CUT SHORT SO TO SHOW OUR APPRECIATION...LOOK FOR A FREE MAKE UP SHOW IN THE NEXT COUPLE OF WEEKS..AND FROM NOW ON..THERE WILL BE PAT DOWNS AND SEARCHES AT EVERY SHOW PROMOTED BY "CANDYAPPLES & RAZORBLADES" ENTERTAINMENT..THANK YOU AGAIN TO EVERYONE FOR YOUR CONTINUED SUPPORT

I am personal friends with the band yet a PTA mother.. is that contradiction enough Rebecca? "these people" who play AND listen to "this kind of music" are amazing succesful people and I think that statement in its entirety was ridiculous, as if the music had anything to do with the actions of ONE person who obviously was very troubled and the ONLY person who should be blamed, I also see no mention on the fact that a member of the band itself was stabbed, he obviously didnt seem to care who he hurt, he was just out to cause trouble and pain and should most certainly be charged with not only attempted murder but also a slew of other charges. No blame or fingers should be pointed towards anyone BUT Mr. Jeremy Peters. To all of the victims, even outside of my personal friends I wish you a fast recovery and hope justice is served on a platter. Guys like this are the ones who give an amazing & fun scene a bad name.

p.s. this was meant to agree with Rebecca :) just making the point no matter what type of music is played has NO role in the type of people who attend or the events that occur

ya know what ???? no one ever mentions the people that kept them from getting killed that night, its a god dam shame !!! it was a tragedy that dude put his hands on a 17 yr old girl that night, AND on another unmentioned blonde haired woman, but there were more of us there, working for the promotion company, that saw what really happened ............ dude got his ass handed to him, then was escorted outta the club, about half an hour later, after some dark haired woman begged forgiveness for him and was denied, he somehow walked back into the club, with a knife in his hand, i saw it, but didnt know what was about to go down, i was mostly in the sound booth with the sound engineer ........... he got escorted out again, and all hell broke loose out on the sidewalk ............ we left as soon as we knew the promoters daughter was secure, and that the promoter was going to the ER

there is nothing thats suggest violence in the name.there is a story behind the name and anybody that knows me personally knows the story..the 17 yr. old was my daughter.IT WAS NOT AFTER MIDNIGHT AND NO ALCOHOL WAS BEING SERVED BY THE ESTABLISHMENT....BY BEST FRIENDS WERE INJURED IN THIS SITUATION AND NOBODY KNOWS HOW THAT MAKES ME FEEL...M wounds will heal.but it breaks my heart that the other 2 guys were injured because some stupid drunk loser dont know when to stop..no disrespect to...informedbeforeposting..but that is everyones problem.nobody wants 2 talk to us to get the real story before commenting on it..not 1 person ahs came to me and said..."HEY T-ROY,WHATS THE DEAL"..everybody just wants to find the negative and roll with that.....BUT ONCE AGAIN,FROM THIS DAY FORWARD THERE WILL BE PAT DOWNS AND SEARCHES AT EVERY SINGLE EVENT THAT I PROMOTE TO ENSURE THAT NOTHING LIKE THIS EVER HAPPENS AGAIN TO ANYONE...and yeah, just because we choose the music that we do does not make us bad people.so all you judgemental ass holes can just go away.we are tired of being judged on our appearence...IT IS NOT THE OUTSIDE THAT MAKES A PERSON.YOU SHOULD TRY AND GET TO KNOW US FIRST,WE MAY GET ALONG BETTER THAN YOU THINK....AND THANKS AGAIN TO EVERYONE FOR YOUR CONTINUED SUPPORT.
