    BRISTOL — Epcon Communities has purchased the Cottages at Feathers Chapel community in Bristol out of bank foreclosure. The community, which offers a maintenance-free lifestyle, furnished clubhouse and heated in-ground swimming pool, was previously approved to accommodate 114 ranch-style homes.

    Four Mountain States Health Alliance hospitals were recognized recently by the Premier Healthcare Alliance for several key quality measures, including low cost of care, delivery of evidence-based care and low mortality scores. The following MSHA hospitals were among 120 facilities nationwide named 2011 Top Performing Hospitals by Premier’s QUEST collaborative: Indian Path Medical Center, Kingsport; Johnson City Medical Center, Johnson City; Smyth County Community Hospital, Marion, Va.; and Sycamore Shoals Hospital, Elizabethton.
